Unless you are 8 feet tall that is a 26" brown trout which would weigh about 9 lbs. Great fish no doubt but not 30.25 inches long. East TN grows bigger brown trout then most rivers in the country other then the AR tailwaters.

You're a horse's asse.

I bet there is a pretty good chance that man put a tape too it. I know I would.

I put a tape to it and yes it's over 26" it's 30 1/4" wish it was more and it weighed 11.5 checked on two different schales to make sure I would have released it but it is the biggest brown I've caught and she's headed for the wall

CH-

Maybe you should think before you post. Every single post of yours comes off that way - FIGJAM or horses hind end. You probably have a lot to offer, but you're getting nowhere on TNDeer with these type posts.

TNRIPNROR-

Great fish, all of them. No doubt they are what you say.
Thanks for posting-

Drivel? Maybe so. But I'm tired of you taking over this forum and others with your know-it-all-Im-right-everyone-else-is-wrong attitude.

Many that post here have a lot to offer. TNRIPNROR has an obvious knack to catching big Browns. Others post on great tactics or accomplishments. You cut each and every one of them down- because you think you are better (hence the FIGJAM term)

I have more fisheries education than anyone that posts here. In the past, I felt I contributed - now I don't come here as often, because I don't like seeing the crap you and a couple others post.

Take any of this for what its worth. I'm just tired of your posts. Change them and I'll change my thinking.

I apologized and heeded the mans advice, and that is all that needs to be said. Can you do the same?

Hey, tnripnror. Just looked at your myspace page. Among other things, it says you like fly fishing. Did y'all catch those big trout on flies? Impressive whatever you used, but just curious how you catch the big dawgs on flies. Streamers at night?

I love this guy! "I know its kind of a smaller fish"...haha...amazing. Hats off man...

...wait wait...what was it NOT caught on again? Even though the guy does practice this particular technique? Hmmm....

I'm not saying go throw those outfits away...but once again...don't be retarded. Look at statistics and facts. Like those guys we met at the ramp last night. They fish the White River, the pre-eminent trout fishery on the planet, and They couldn't believe the fish shore and I have pulled out of Caney both wading and floating and we're not alone doing what we do...and results are across the board at least with those with a little knowledge applied to the actual mechanics of the tactic. If you're going to be an angler, be a complete angler. Great guys though. I gave them a few pointers and we're meeting in the morning to trade info and stuff. But... If you're out on any tailrace river anywhere...or anywhere trout swim [primarily brown trout for that matter] and you don't have a spinning outfit rigged up with a rapala or rogue and a few sizes and varieties waiting in the wings, you're cheating yourself out of alot of fishing opportunities. Pics don't lie...'nuff said. Btw, light up those torches folks. I'm back in town. See ya out there tomorrow bright and early. And good luck to all.

...and once again dude...I"m jealous. I know where I"m planning my next trip...and it ain't the Caney.

No wonder the ramps on the Caney are so crowded. Every time Tubs takes his boat out, all us poor uneducated fishermen gather around and hold a worship service.

Throwing rapalas and rogues isn't rocket science. People have been doing it for twenty years on the White. It's just that most of them don't go around on the Internet like they invented it.

See Bd you'r emissing the poitn altogether. No, tossing a jerkbait is not rocket science. But its pretty obvious that there is a technique to it because not everyone that goes and throws a rogue catches big trout consistently, just as those few flyfishermen who are adept enough to throw streamers in current. It's applicatino of that kinetic skill. Location location location. The big bait and ease of use just allows one [at laes tin my one personal experience] to focus more on the more important things in fishing. I know I didn't invent it, but amazes me how many people refuse to do it when its so proven effective...and their results on other methods can't even compare to the goods produced by knowledgeable application of this tactic. I think it takes ego to go fish a type of tackle just becaues it makes you fit into the "club" better...frankyl, I just want to do what gets me more fish bigger and the easiest way. I help any and all who I can. Gil...ego? Dude...I just shrae info...and expose real assholes, you know the ones who charge big bucks to sell people limited knowledge and a facade of prestige and competence. All fly anglers? No...not hardly. But a good percentage of the guides I've met hide behind a name brand and an excuse that their tackle "is more challenging" to guise the fact that redneck joe has way more big fish under his belt than upstart yuppie ken doll. now...those guys that can use all those tactics to achieve the optimum reuslts for a given situation? Hats off...but those individuals are few and far between...I myself cannot count myself among those, but I will give myself credit...I have worked hard and am very adept at approach and placement of the right lure at the right time on spinning, and am willing to share any and all info I have with anyone freely. No guide fee. I guess that's arrogance.

Wow, there's a shock! The Energizer Ego, just keeps on going, and going, and going...

I must say though Tubs, you are an equal opportunity offender. At first glance, it appears that you are only offensive to the millions that don't fish exactly like you do - those of us lesser beings. But on taking a closer look, you are offensive to anyone that can read your posts, fisherman or not. How in the world does that gargantuan head of yours even fit inside a boat? Wonder if you've ever posted on a thread without ruining it for everyone else?

Gil,
Whatever. Get a life man. I have lots and lots of friends in Tn simply because I've helped them catch more and bigger fish and tell them anything and everything I know, and if I don't know it, I try to refer them to someone who does. If you're not among them...wow...like my feelings are really hurt. you seem like a cool guy, and I'm sure you're not the jerk you appear on here, as I am not either, but dang...its just fishing man.

I never doubted that for a second. I've always been impressed with his catch, but that won't make up for being an extremely weak person. There are so many foks of great character that are phenomenal outdoorsman who are the exact opposite of Tubs.

They are humble, they not only respect others but also their quarry, and they don't put others down for choosing to do things a different way or for not being as adept.

Tubs' sole purpose for coming on this board is try to make himself feel better. Normally, that's just tragic, but he does it by putting others down, and I won't let him get away with it. Life's too short to allow the ignorant and arrogant to run over you.

Gil...dude...

...I've got SOOO many other outlets that affirm my character...and I'll be the first to say...talent and accomplishment DO NOT define character or justify one's self. I was both a state qualifying 400 meter dash runner and one of the best high school brass players in te state [1st chair honros orchestra] in the state in high school. I'm well aware of the fact hat NO ONE CARES NOW, and it wasn't relaly a big deal then, but even back then I laerned real quick that the onyl purpose for being good at something is helping people. Im' sorry that I disagree with you gil on so many points, and I'm sorry for coming across as an [censored], but when people starting whipping out knives I start whipping out guns. Maybe that's just my youth, but dang it, I've heard more ignorant jargon from fly propogandists that have yet to even latch hooks with a 20" brown, trying to tell others how and what to do wit hthem...a whole industry [fly fishing] is based on image and not results. The same with spoonplugging...trolling the same baits with 3 different colors doing the same thing in any body of water, applying HARD WORK, KNOWLEDGE, and driving 9.9 hp [Buck's recommended] tillers on 15 foot jon boats doesn't make money...but selling an image that you're only a REAL angler if you have a 20 foot triton with a 250 optimax on the back, and 6 different calcuttas rigged on 6 different fenwick's with 6 different magic colored plastic worms does...funny..the same seems to apply to flyfishing.

I've never said it didn't catch fish. If you have knowledge and skill, you can catch fish on ANYTHING...I'm just saying, specifically for browns, its way too much effort so little pay out...go get spinning and throw big baits, or better yet, go do the homework yourself and find out what all the records have been caught on...

...rainbows are a different story and I'll concede rainbows, big ones, are not best pursued on jerkbaits, but still...I think that they can be just as easily caught on spinning tackle employing worms or an indicatory drift than anything. I've never done this but talked to some who have, and to be honest...some of the largest rainbows are still caught on jerkbaits. More bang for their buck....but every 20" rainbow I've cut open has salad in his stomach and every 20" brown has sculpins. Period. Nuff said. Use that knowledge. I just get frustrated at upstarts who condescend and act like they know it all, and get lock jawed when the little redneck boy walks out with the biggest fish spending an inth of the money. I dealt wi hthat SHALLOW AND IGNORANT behavior when I first came out here. A few minority of the fly anglers out there are INCREDIBLY knowledgable...BD and Mike A. and others...but they learned other tactics as well...its sad when the novices get convinced by others, nay, BEGUILED into thinking they have to spend thousands of dollars on waders, DRIFT BOATS [[censored]!?!?!??! YOU cna't even go UP STREAM to hit another run...its a5000 BATH TUB~!!!], fly tying and junk to catch fish that are obviously more easily caught on an 18 dollar wal mart rod, spinning reel of your choice, and a various assormtment of small to lage jerkbaits and egg and worm imitations. SHALLOW AND IGNORANT??? That's what pisses me off...when marketing and stigma overrides facts and knowledge...use fly tackle if you want, I don't care. But don't try to sell the bag of goods that its the best way to go about the business. It's an expensive time consuming specialist way, and that's fine for some, but I've seen way too many out there that are cheated out of great days o nthe water trying to figure out just how to cast their equipment because theyt only can fish leisurely once a month or twice ona weekend...instead of trying to leanr how to cast, they could be catching fish. NUFF SAID.

I don't run over everyone gil. Just those that try to exploit those who don't know better. I was almost one of them. I used to think that the fly guides were the ones who knew how to catch the big trout. Turns out they were the charlatains. Its sad when someone's paid so many thousand dollars to catch a 16" fish and I paid a fraction of that to catch so many over 20". He could do it too...just as easily, and I wouldn't charge him for information, but someone swindled him into buying into a guise of knowledge and perception of competence. I get on here, share pics, respond to pms, and produce fish fairly well for the time I'm out there...and yet I've been slammed for even JOKING about "guiding" from guys who haven't had nearly the same resutls out there as I or shore, and charge monumental prices for catching 12-18" fish because IT'S ON FLY TACKLE. That's what pisses me off....that's no excuse.

Dude! It's a tuba! The fishing is one thing, but bragging about being able to play 1/4 notes is where I draw the line! \:\)

TNRIPNROR...I bow to YOU sir...

...BD, I'm just going by the fact that I was first chair in the top orchestra at all-state...dude, I played Carnival of Venice my junior year of high school...and played trumpet etudes all the time that made that studio blush...tuba is WAAAY more than quarter notes. Check out a guy named Pat Sheridan sometime if you really want to hear what the horn can do...or even better, Oystein Baadsvik. Guy plays violin concertos on the [censored] thing. He's a freak. But...to be frank...I don't expect anyone to really care. I really don't that much anymore, hehe.

Calm down, it was a joke.

I got a music scholarship when I was in college and played guitar in the jazz band and percussion in the concert band. I also picked up a bass every once in a while and filled in some string bass parts for the concert band. While I was looking at that bass clef, I noticed that all the tuba parts could have been played with 3 strings cut off my bass and one hand tied behind my back. \:\)

Bd,
Dude, that's awesome. I wasn't upset man, I was just sayin' most people don't know. Seriously though, a REAL instrument...I play piano enough to get by but wish I could play guitar. I did percussion when I knocked my teeth out, and got to be pretty good on mallets. Wish I could play set.

MFBAB,
Man, euphonium is the most underrated instrumenton the planet. I love playin' it. It's like the best of all worlds, which is probably why it never took off...it's TOO good...fluid and technical but powerful as well. And has such a great sound inthe right hands. And one heck ofa jazz instrument...ever heard Rich Matteson play jazz on it with Duke Ellington? Guy tears it up...

How do you keep a euphonium from being stolen?
Put it in a tuba case.

What do you call a beautiful woman on a tuba player's arm?
A tattoo.

What's the difference between a dead euphonium player in the road and a dead dog in the road?
The dog might have been on his way to a gig.
