Delta Fair Youth Fishing Rodeo Sept. 6 at Agricenter

As part of the Delta Fair & Music Festival, Aug. 29-Sept. 7, at the Agricenter in Memphis, young anglers will not only have a chance to catch big catfish, but also the opportunity to earn a vacation at Reelfoot Lakeís Blue Bank Resort.
Itís the Fairís Youth Fishing Rodeo, set for September 6 from 11 a.m. through 4 p.m.
This could be one of the nationís most-attended, one-day youth fishing rodeos with hundreds of youth, ages 5-15, expected to participate. For sure, it will be the longest in terms of fishing hours (five).
For a $3 fee, young anglers will be allowed to fish for 30 minutes with a 2 fish limit. They can fish in as many sessions as they wish at $3 per session. The angler with the heaviest stringer in each session will earn a rod-and-reel combo.
If thatís not enough, one catfish will be Ďtaggedí prior to the rodeo. The lucky angler who catches the tagged fish will win a fishing trip and a gift certificate to Sportsmanís Warehouse at Hacks Cross and Winchester in Memphis.
Plus, all the anglers who participate in one or more of the rodeoís sessions will be eligible to win a 2-day, 1-night fishing trip to Blue Bank Resort, courtesy of resort owner Mike Hayes, who is a long-time supporter of area youth fishing rodeos and a current member of the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Commission. The name of the angler who wins the trip to Reelfoot Lake will be drawn out of a hat at the conclusion of the rodeoís 10 sessions.
The angler with the heaviest over-all 2-fish limit will win a lure package and a catfish rod-and-reel combo.
Rodeo rules and regulations: 1 line in the water (weíll supply the equipment); no treble hooks will be allowed; bait will be available; 2-fish limit; no fishing from pier; all fish caught will be the property of the Delta Fair & Music Festival Youth Fishing Rodeo (no one will be allowed to keep the fish they catch); fish will be weighed on proper scales with winners determined by heaviest two-fish limit.
About 1,000 pounds of catfish will be stocked prior to the event.

I don't know...I hope they clean 'em and fry 'em up in the Delta Fest Fish Fry Contest.
As high as catfish has gotten...per pound...if my kid caught a mess of 'em, we'd guard 'em like gold!
