I use wraps and never had much success with dipping then fletching, BUT a buddy uses paint with great success. He fletches his arrows then tapes off the vanes/nock/shaft and paints the section he wants painted. They look great.

I use white lacquer spray paint, not dipping. I take the knock out, tape off the end about 6 inches from the knock and put light coats on until I think the color is good. Then I fletch the arrow just like you would if you wrapped it. I will take some pics tomorrow and post them.

so if you wrap, can you still use the blazer vains that you dip in hot water? or do you have to fletch them by hand?

Super Glue Gel for the vanes and then I put a little drop of regular Supper Glue at the front and rear of the vane to make them a little more soother. Haven't had a problem doing it this way. I learned this from someone who has been doing it this way for years.

I have used the Bohning dip and cresting paint for years. This is a little more time consuming and you have to watch for air bubbles in the paint but when done right it is a piece of art. I have never had any trouble with fletching over top of the paint. If you use something other than Bohning then you may experience some difficulties. Bohning paint and glue are made to work together. This makes a bond that you can not pull the fletching off. I have just started using some wraps and so far I like them but I haven't had to refletch any yet either. And besides I haven't seen a wrap that looks as good as some of my cresting jobs.

As far as a weight issue I haven't noticed any. Any weight sdded to the make end of a shaft makes it stiffer. So if you are thinking your underspined this may actually help your shooting and arrow flight.

The ones you dip in hot water have a built in wrap that does the shriking that attaches the fletching to the shaft. So you would probably want to flerch by hand if u use a regular wrap.

They look cool ;\)

Wraps make it easier to find arrows after the shot. They also make it easier to see blood than looking at a black shaft (especially white ones).

I use a yello fade to bright orange wrap with orange Blazers on my hunting arrows. It's a lot easier to find an arrow with that much orange than one with just colored fletchings.

Here's a pic of my wraps at a distance. Ignore the two awesome caribou I killed \:D
