What do you do to make sure you dont get busted from your bow stands. I generally try and pic a tree that has saplings in front of it, I also try and think about sunrise and sunset not to get skylined. This year I am considering putting some of the limbs I trim for shooting lanes behind me for additional cover. What do yall do? Any pics? Thanks and have a good one.

Im setting a lot of stands this weekend and should have pics next week.

I like a large Cedar tree for a lock-on. Just cut a little cave in the limbs to hang the stand and make enough room to move around a little. You can be almost completely enclosed except for the front. You can use climbing sticks without cutting away alot of the cover.
A ladder stand would be perfect for this also.

I walk the trails in the off season ,and look at trees from the deer's perspective as they would approach the area . I try to pick trees within bow range that not only have good cover , but are concealed and not in their direct line of sight .

Truth is, there is only one way to 100% insure you won't get busted in a stand.

Stay out of it.

yeah...and you always miss 100% of the shots you dont take.

I am just curious what others do to try and up the percentage of not getting busted via necissary movement while hunting.

I sit with my bow on a long version of a bowhanger right out in front of me. I dont have to move much at all the bow is already in place for the shot.

I make a point to back up into tree limbs if at all possible.

It's all about knowing when to move by watching the deer's body language and where they are looking . Slow , deliberate movements are easier to get away with than quick , sudden movements .
I have slowly knocked an arrow from my quiver and drawn back on a deer looking up at me as I just got up in my stand , and actually got a shot off . I never make eye contact with a deer if they spot me .
