When practicing with my field points, I am dead on at thirty hards if i am shooting a 3D target, but if i go to try and shoot spots, i am all over the place, anyone know why this may be? And does anybody else experience this?

I would guess it is called type A personality. I forget who said it, but it goes along the lines of having a hard time believing that your pin is on the exact spot you want to hit so you move (subconciously) to see the spot...cover it up, and move again. I have occasionally struggled with this a bit, especially when just getting back to shooting back tension releases. Some people just set there pin for like 32 and hold on the bottom of the dot so they can still see what they want to hit.

It's all in your head. Archery is 90% mental.

One thing I have found to help people in the past, is to draw your bow with your finger behind the trigger, aim on the dot for several seconds, then let down. Do this several times before you ever fire an arrow. It gets your mind focused and trained to hold on the dot. Also, remember, focus on the spot you want to hit, not your pin.

This is true. I actually sight my bow in high so that I can place my pin just under the spot I want to hit. Don't know why I just can't cover up the spot. However on 3d and hunting i don't really have anything to shoot at but an area. then I do fine.
