Well it is getting down to the wire. I can't decide if I need a new string or not. I have an 07 allegiance. I got it back in feburary of this year. Normally I wouldn't be asking this question, but I was using a string spliter to instal my peep (with out a bow press)and frayed some of the string. So now I have little hairs around where I tied my peep in. I have shot prbly 300 arrows through it and had 0 problems. Do you think That the frayed areas are dangerous or should I just wax em down and go. Like I said, I'm kinda getting close to the season to be swapping strings. What should i do? Wish i had a pic(sorry)

I'd say your alright. There are a lot threads in a string. I have shot a lot with a string that has a nick. If the fray bothers you take a lighter to it...carefully!

Strings fray under normal usages and can be waxed , but if you cut any strands you may want to change it out to be safe . You can always buy a new string and shoot it in for a backup just incase this string does break .

More than likely, the string is OK, IF it's just frayed.
But, in reality, is it really worth blowing your bow up and possibly getting injured for the $40 or $50 it would take to replace it? Consider it a lesson learned: install your peep with the aid of a bow press.
You've still got plenty of time to shoot before season opens.

If you decide to replace it, I suggest Vapor trail, talk about fast shipping! I got mine on advice from another member here who I trust implicitly on bow advice. I do like it.

Yes, change strings. It is safer and will give you peace at mind. As suggested VT strings are great. Ditch that string splitter.

Definitely not recommended for the novice.

Yea I think I am just going to leave it for now. I plan to shoot at least 4 days out of the week from here on out so I should know if it will be ok for hunting. I just waxed it down real good and I think she'll be fine. Like I said I've put about 400 arrows through the bow since that happend.
Thanks fellas
