I just got my latest Petersen's Bowhunting mag and it has an article on "Great Budget Bows" - I know it's been awhile since I seriously shopped around for bows so I guess my perception of budget doesn't match today's market. Mathews budget bow, the S2, lists at $759 MSRP and several more are $700 + \:o

If I were to buy one I would look at Parker and maybe a couple more.

Martin is has some great budget bows. Hate to say it but they are far and few between now a days. Bear has a few 400 to 500 bows. Mathews makes the mission series which is a good bow from what I understand. 300 to 400 dollars. You can always go to archery talk and buy a slightly used bow from last year for 1/2 what it cost new. Hope this helps!!

Anything over 300 bucks is NOT a budget bow in my opinion!!!

Check out the Mission line of bows by Mathews, they're a lot of bow for the money. You'd be surprised how well these bows shoot.

Mission X3 - MSRP $379
Mission X4 - MSRP $449
Mission X5 - MSRP $559
Mission Journey - MSRP $599
Mission Buckmasters - MSRP $699

The Fred Bear lineup has several decent bows that won't break the bank . Used high end bows are another option , if you know your draw length and can setup a bow . Many good bows can be found for $400-$500 that are only a couple of years old .

I just picked up a year old Hoyt Vectrix xl for $400. There are deals like this all over the place.

"Budget" means you better save for it and make sure you have money in the budget before you buy...as opposed to just going out and buying it without worrying about how you will pay for it.

One of my mottos: Live within your income, even if you have to borrow to do so.
