A few years ago, back when we were both in good health, I spent a wekend with Tom and Betty Lou Fegley, a couple topnotch outdoor writers from PA. It happened to be opening weekend of trout season so I accompanied Tom on his rounds of trout streams to take pictures.

I like to fainted! The first place we pulled up, a gravel bar on some river or "Kill" as they call it up there, was maybe 100 yards long. Lined up along the bank were about 150 fisherpersons. They were litteraly shoulder to shoulder and they were throwing everything from midges to wedgies to gobs of nightcrawlers. And they were all happy as hogs in fresh slop.

Every place we stopped was like that. I guess a couple dozen folks fishing at Betty's Island isn't so bad.
