Thank God I don’t fish these tailwaters that everyone has been posting about lately. I’ll stick to my 3-7 mile hikes and enjoy catching trout that most of you would consider too small for bait. I personally don’t know how you tailwater guys handle it. I normally start thinking a place is too crowded if I notice someone is within a half mile of me.

BTW, I’ve never even seen a canoe, or had to deal with fireworks on any of the streams I fish. However, I did once have 2 drunk girls sitting in the river in lawnchairs drop their tops and, for lack of better words, “shake them at me”. That river will go unnamed. I wouldn’t want all the Caney hordes showing up there.

Here’s some old pictures I still have in my photobucket account.

1st pic, Cherokee NF
2nd pic, Somewhere in the Smokies, not real sure where.
3rd pic, Cherokee NF, I think it’s Sycamore Creek during the drought last year. I might have to make it back down there this weekend to see what it looks like this year.

Better you then me, I am satisfied knowing that those creeks are up there. I used to fish the park and CNF alot, and just got tired of tiny little fish. Sure it is isolated and peaceful and that I liked. But I have river smallmouth to get me away from the crowds.

I really am glad you enoy fishing the small creeks, and understand why folks like that stuff. It just isn't for me, I like something pull back when I set the hook \:\)

Use a light enough flyrod and you'll have a fight on your hands.

I think I have fished almost exactly at the same spot as you show in Photo #2. I have a photo nearly identical to that one somewhere on my computer at home (of course, all the streams in the Smokies kind of look alike sometimes).

The only difference in my picture is that there's a guy fishing just above me. Some turd hiked all the way up, past where I'd been working my way upstream for over an hour, and then he waded in less than 30 yards upstream from me and started casting. I was so mad I almost had to chew on one of those stream boulders.

There may be fewer idiots up in GSMNP, but they still have a knack for cozying up with me.
