I hope they come around as they get older. because many of them are hideous right now, and cigar thin.

They don't look unusually thin for their size to me. Colors are improving, though most aren't as pretty as a wild fish of the same size. Of course, the same thing could be said for a rainbow that's 4 months out of the hatchery truck. If they hold over and spend some time eating natural food, they ought to be gorgeous.

As far as I'm concerned, the brookies are doing a lot better than I expected. I thought there were decent odds that they'd be wiped out by meat fishermen and predators in a couple months, and the ones that survived would restrict themselves to the first couple miles below the dam.

However, as it is, they're still extremely abundant so far, and I'm catching them down as far as Kirby Road (though I don't know if that will last since temps seem to be creeping up into the 60s now on the middle to lower river).
