After many years of not fishing any Bass Tournaments I had really forgotten just how much work it is to keep a boat tournament ready.
I spent 4 hours today just doing basic boat cleanup and live well maintenance and other slight mechanical tweaks. (Those live wells sure get gamey after a few trips.)

Then I spent another 2 hours re-spooling reels and organizing my tackle. I now have a new appreciation for all rsimms must do weekly to keep his boat a tackle fit and ready for action.
I make good money, I help the Family, but one thing must be understood, I would never go against the Godfather. Ruger is a man I respect. Luca Brasi

Forget the boat. Just fishing tournaments is a lot of work. I haven't fished a tournament in almost 12 years. It was just about then, I stood up one afternoon, looked at my "partner" and said. "Screw this. This is just too much work." I headed for the ramp, threw back the three fish I had, loaded up and never fished another contest.

Course, my sponsor did make me give the boat back. But I got to keep the shirts. \:\)

Constipation has ruined many a good day. Not as many as stupidity, though.

Forget the boat and the tournaments. Just fishing with someone else is a lot of work, which Is why I have been almost a solo act for many years. "Meet you at the walmart parking lot at 3:30". What if you, at the appointed time, want to sleep in that morning? Or he oversleeps? And, you want to go to Loon lake and he wants to go to Lake Wobugan. And he wants to come home at 10 oclock and you want to fish until dark. Do your own thing man. Regimentation is for working people.

I have the greatest fishing partner in the world, as far as I'm concerned anyway. We have been fishing/hunting buddys for 18+ years now and he has always owned the fishing boat. Recently I volunteered to split the cost of a nice fishing "luxury" and he wouldn't let me. I tried to fill the boat up with gas last week and he wouldn't let me. When we fish one of our few tourneys I do pay his entry fee, and I buy breakfast and bait, if needed, but he bears all the boating expense. He is just glad to have someone to go with him that likes to fish as much as he does.

No doubt about it, but they sure are nice to have around. All of that PM time just helps you enjoy your fishing trips a little more, nothing worse than getting on the water and dealing with problems when you should be catching them.
Missed it by that much....
