TOCRoach.... \:D \:D \:D

On my ship that meant the women and old fat guys. They got all the new coveralls and foul weather jackets because they were sitting around the shop instead of out on top of a boat working whenever the new supplies came in.

maybe ive been out to long. but what is a CAB? cant be a CIB, thats only for 11 and 18 mos'. or maybe a CMB for medics.

anyway got a funny story, in desert storm, we were leapfrogging with 82nd ABN infrantry. the bad thing is they never fired a shot, mostly cause the weak a@# iraqi regulars were giving up after artillery pounded the crap out of them. after we reached Obj White, the 82nd and 7th cav FFL had to stay to baby sit, while we headed east toward Basra to meet up with 24th mech who were engaging RGFC'S. the funny thing was when we talked to some of those guys back at Dharan(spelling) after it was over, they said they didnt fire a shot but they got their CIB's!!!

hey ren, when you were a recuiter did you ever talk any recruits out of going combat arms in order to fill a quota on a non combat arms MOS?

about the most useless in a unit were some officers, most all have them. officer joe, officer bob. they are the ones that talk sh!@ but when it comes time to go to war they develop asthma, or have some medical problem to become non-deployable.

then you have the commanding officers in headquaters that never saw the day of light during war, then put themselves in for a bronze star(without "V" of course) to make them look good on paper. Col. Maples was one of them in one unit i was in, now he is the Commanding General over the DIA. how that happened i'll never know, but then again maybe that bronze star helped him!

the cab is the combat action badge

basically if a motar round lands on a base like 957 meters away from where you where at in the px looking at lowrider magizines
if your chain of command thinks you where all in danger and espically if they want one too , they all get a CAB
it is a joke really how they get them sometimes
like they heard gunfire somewhere along a convoy route and they put themselves in for a badge

it is bad , im telling ya

col maple or marple
i had a bc in korea in 90 named marple real primadonna sort

i fired 4 rounds in desert storm on hill 244 in fob cobra and then we backed up and let the 105s and a10 pound the snot out of haji and then medevaced them all and 7 days later our company got sent to the rear for deliceing from handling them scum balls

the whole company had the itchy and scratchy show going on until we got deloused

i fired a couple of basic loads in oif 1 and oif 3

just a little bit more action than desert storm

i put my share of kids into combat support jobs , probably about 25%percent of them total out of the 78 i put in the army over those 3 years

you tend to recruit in your own image
i went after those people who hunted and fished like outdoors stuff and adventure

i put alot of kids from maine into combat arms and alaska also with outdoor adventure stuff

i would always tell kids when you come home from meps and have picked a job and tell your freinds and releatives that you picked say satellite imagery analyst instead of being a m1 tanker , there is a unspoken let down factor when you tell them that cause everyone thinks the army is guns tanks and cannons and not jobs like forklift oprerator in a ware house, or radar orieely cleark things

i would tell kids and parents the truth about combat arms and that i couldnt say if their son would get killed , how would i know that???? the truth worked cut and dry.

i also told kids if they like the army and want to reclass after that 1st enlistment in combat arms and change to atechnical job that is cool
get all the i love me badges in combat arms then go into something else and your chest patches will tell the story to others that dont have them in your new job

plus the bonuses and college money was in combat arms when i was out their from 98-01 alot more so than support jobs

i get a good chuckle out of the rank bronze star awards and license plates that say meritorious under the bronze star plates around clarksville all the time

it is like advertising for that person saying look at me im a schmuck for those of us that are in the know about meritorious awards like that....hahahahahahahahahaaaaaa!!!!!!

oh yeah , i also never put a female into the army , i just didnt want to deal with them honestly
i let the other recruiters in the office talk to females and write them from the 3 high schools assigned to me
i put 8 male high school seniors in the army in 3 years all the rest where out of school or in the work force or college in some way.

i got offered a double rocker e-7 in late 98 to convert to full time recruiter 79r

needless to say i kept my blue cord and told the recruiting mafia not no but he!! f#$% no ...igot picked up in 99 with a sequence # of 24 and went back to the 101 in 01 back to the 502nd infantry.

you wouldnt beleive some of the jacked up people i worked for in recruiting command 79r,s with rank far beyond their abilities in the job they had in the regular army before they sold their souls to recruiting command. i was glad to leave that job......

and i wont hesitate to give advice to people wanting it about joining the military at all.

i know all thier tricks and playing of words.
