We took a vacation the last of June and I got to go on my first deep sea fishing trip. I researched it a bit and found out that we were going during prime Blue Marlin fishing season. I was able to get a boat and my BIL's uncle (Ric) went with me. I had a blast and caught 4 fish. That may not seem like a lot, but i was told by a few that fishing was slow this year. I caught a 67" Blue Marlin etimated a little over 200 lbs that I released. I also caught 2 Mahi Mahi, Rick caught 1 Mahi. Later that evening we went on a snorkeling trip that ran trolling bait to and from a wild life preserve. On the way back while the crew were cleaing mask, i was sitting drikin Mai Tai's watching the reels and say one of the rods bent over. I yelled fish on and that i was taking it so i was able to land a 45lb Wahoo. We had the Mahi for dinner that night. pics below

That wahoo isn't fit to eat. You should drop it off at my house!
Looks like you had a great trip! Congrats.

Well, the boat crew got the Wahoo. The deal was the guest got to catch it and they got to keep it. They said there were 40 people in their company so im sure it went to good use. Problem was, not by me :P.
We fished Kona Hawaii. First trip to the big island. 3 days before the captian tagged a 500 lb blue.
I must say, I did have the best fish tacos in my life that night.

Nice pics. How hard did the crew try to get you to keep the marlin?
What boat?

Actually I didn't htink about it at the time to excited, but they asked me several times if i wanted to keep it. As tempted as I was bc it was my first marlin, I decided to release it to let it grow for another day. Had it been 4-500 lbs, then it would be at the taxidermist.
The boat was "Hooked Up". Great crew, good captian. You can arrange to have your fish prepared for you etc. Boat was nice 40' with twin detroits in it. Boat make was great. No complaints. As they said they are either heros or zeros. They were heros that day.

Outstanding fish! Don't forget that the taxidermist won't use or need any of your fish, especially a fish of that size. He will take pics. and measurements for the mount but dispose of the fish anyway. If you have to kill the fish, at least eat it.
