Seems there are a lot of us that love this river. Any interest in a gathering/campout and a couple days of doing whatever it is we wish to do. Not like the ROR, maybe not even open to the world. But a few of us old river guys burning some dead meat and fishing our way on the Fork?
I should be healed up enough in a couple weeks. If you are interested, PM me.

I would love to get the chance to fish the Caney with some folks who know it well. I am not old by any stretch but can certainly provide entertainment value and a good sense of humor to any outing. Plus Bowriter you just might learn something.

Here's the situation:
#1- Where I would like to camp is accessible only by boat and will handle maybe 6-8 people. I have a couple places down the river I have permission to camp. But I need clearance to have a group camp. #2- I am pretty well beat to shite right now. May be late August before I am physically able to handle it. #3- I have no way of deciding who goes and who doesn't. Not my job, not my desire. I won't get into that. But if it is a crowd, I suggest just staying at Long Branch and working from there. Age or experience is not a factor. Attitude is. I have no desire to share a camp with an idiot. ") #4- In retrospect, I think this would best be handled via email or pm. And it probably should have been that way from the get go.

Gotta tell my backstrap story. So I went on that big hifalooooootin trip to Kodiak, Alaska, and got me a young, tender Sitka Blacktail deer - supposed to be some of the best meat you ever tasted. I paid a few zillion $$$ to go on this trip and a few more to carry the meat home with me freeze dried. So I got stuck about 3 times trying to fly home on those friggin' kites with props they use up there, and it took 2 days to get back home. The meat had thawed before I even hit Seattle.
I had already given away all my TN deer meat (5 or 6 deer for the season). I paid about a zillion $$$ to bring home rancid meat. Even the chow-trained coyotes behind my house wouldn't sniff the stuff. Gettin' used to blony samiches.
