yeah. some folks in AR call them poor mans lobster. They say the meat is white and textured like lobster tail. I say no thanks. I do know a 5 pounder will knock the piss out of a 1/2 ounce flippin jig.

I have heard them called that before. We call them river permit. Hardest fish to catch in rivers that I have ever fished for. Super spooky, super selective. We caught a bunch this year during the cicadas, but sight casting to them in a river with crayfish patterns is a challenge.

In LA, most people refer to them as Gaspagoo. In fact, that's all I ever knew them by until I reached my majority. In some areas of the Bayou State, they are actually fished for on purpose. The ones that size,if you know how to cook them, are pretty good table fare.
As for moi, me I don lak dem no some what, me.
