My wife picked up her new Ruger LCP from our dealer today. It is a neat little pistol and we tried it out this evening when I got home. She shot it some first to get the feel of it, then loaded 5 rounds in the magazine and handed it to me.

We were about 7 yards back from a 2" shoot-n-c target; it shot durn good right to point of aim. Considering the pistol, my eyes, and the short sight radius I was surprised and pleased. I handed it back and told her it is 'pretty good.' Plateau Hunter

Poor womans going to think you're really special. Tell her the truth now. Good group for a compact pistol with such a short sight radius.

Mine does the same thing, it shoots way better than a pocket pistol has any business shooting.

Keep an eye on it....I hear that Ruger's had some recalls with it since it's a new line of guns for them. I think they still have bugs to work out. Then again, it could be some KelTec folks out there a little mad that Ruger stole their pistol design.

Supposedly, disgruntled KelTec employees went to work for Ruger. Next thing you know, Ruger's got a spitting image pocket pistol. It's had a recall or two applied to it, so far as I know.

It was about $290 plus tax, background check etc.

I will watch for recalls-if there are any problems I am confident Ruger will take care of them. Ruger generally markets reliable products and stands behind them. Plateau Hunter

I havent seen any recalls on the LCP. They did have some on the new SR9 which is there polymer framed 9mm.

I've seen stuff about it on another gun forum. I hear Ruger takes care of it really well, but it's just a matter of being "out of pocket" (NICE PUN, HUH?) without your gun for 6 weeks or so.

From the other gun forum..........

"The weapon had a recall on it due to firing problems when dropped.

Apparently the first run of the weapons were malfunctioning. So they called them all back.. are fixing the problem and taking a second run at it. "

Wow, I wouldn't want to meet that gun in a dark alley \:\)

That's a most impressive group out of such a small handgun!

I've never had a lot of faith in Kel-Tec. I know, I know there are faithful owners on here. Good for you. The ones I've shot jammed more than a biscuit. It's a confidence thing and I didn't have any.

Now I might give the LCP a try just to have it. I've always wanted a little .380 to play around with and I have much more faith in Ruger products.

My wife has had hers for a couple months now. we took it out and let her get used to shooting such a small gun. So far its been great! She loves it and im thinking of getting one for a back up gun or to carry on hot days... easier to conceal...GEAT GUN

I get to shoot before long with a Ruger Firearms rep. I was told we will have a chance to purchase a LCP and I`m going to get one myself.

That looks a lot like the S&W Sigma 380 I used to have. I didn't like it, for several reasons. Sight radius was too short, had more recoil than I thought it would have, etc.

Seems like the Ruger LCP is all the rage these days. I might have to check it out, it might be a decent pocket pistol for the summer months. If anyone in the Memphis area has one, let me know what you think of it.

The guys who let me shoot their KelTec at the range the other day actually tried to get a Ruger. They're backordered AT LEAST until December. KelTec or bust, nowadays. http://www.Gunbroker.com might be the place to go.
