Does the string on a compound need to be replaced? I know it is going to depend on the wear and amount of shots and all that but on average?? I will be starting my third season with this bow/string.... do I need to have it replaced before the opener?

If it were me, I would replace it before you start this season. It all depends on how much you shoot, how well you wax it, and what environment you've had it in. Without looking at it, I'd say go ahead and replace it after 2 years.

This is kind of like asking "How often do I need to get new tires?"

As previously mentioned, there are many factors involved. We have customers who need new strings twice a year and then we have some who have used the same string for seven years.

Mine's been on for 3 years now but I wax it every time I shoot it and I don't shoot that much at all. As a matter of fact, it hasn't seen daylight since last fall if that tells you anything.

I shoot a lot and can see wear starting to show up on my string. I wax on a regular basis and try to keep it clean. I will order a set of strings and cables to have at the house and keep on eye on them. I have had these strings on it going on my fourth season.
