Yeah buddy, I just made a deal for a .54 caliber sidelock, T/C Renegade, with a 26", 1:48 twist barrel . I figured I give shooting some roundballs a chance next season. I've got some areas that are real thick with cedar brush that this rifle will be perfect for. \:\) Anyone got any load suggestions? I'll get some pictures up when it arrives.

I've been there before. Stopped hanging around when they deleted the inline forum. Guess I need to visit again, soon.

dont think tc makes them for 54 cal any more the breakaway sabots... check out their web site they might
out of my 50 cal renegade i am shooting 100 grains of pyrodex rs select (black can) and tc breakaway sabots with 240 grain xtp.429 bullets and # 11 remington cap cranking out about, 1700 fps
since 1992
this was one of their book loads that came with the gun when i bought, also have a cva load book that list for all different guns too.
i will check the book when i get home tonight on the .54 loads
it is a killing load for sure and accurate as heck
same charge with 370 grain maxi balls was pretty good too in my .50, and a tc maxi ball would punch thru thick stuff i bet better than a round ball.

My KRB shoots a 410 gr. GP conical and a 250 gr. Barnes expander exceptionally well. I'm wanting to use the renegade for roundballs but I'll also play with some conical loads as well. Hornady makes a 425 gr. hollow point great plains conical that should be hell on wheels. This will primarily be my short range, brush rifle. I hunt a few places around Percy Priest that are just plain thick with cedar. A 50 yard shot is a long one.

I'll keep an eye out for those sabots you need.
