I've never hunted with a 223,but i have heard alot of good things about the 64gr power point.I use the power point in my 30-06 and it has never failed to drop them in there tracks everytime.Of course there is a big difference between the two.

Don't know if it is available in a factory load or not but the 64g Win PP keeps cropping up as a good deer capable bullet. Anyway I did kill a doe with one out of my .223 Stevens last season. Bullet did a coplete pass through the chest behind the heart at about 25 yards. Doe ran about 20 yards or so and collapsed dead. There was no blood trail that I found-maybe one would have developed if she had made it farther.

I also have some 60g Partitions and 63g Sierra SMPs that I have loaded up for 'deer capable'loads. Hope to try some more this coming season.

In an AR you will have to use the proper powder to get proper port pressure, pay attention to oal for the magazine, and crimp the bullets slightly-anyway I would. Good luck. Plateau Hunter
