I have had both. I loved the Encore Pro Hunter. Very good groups and easy to clean. Of course the Savage is easy to clean as well. As time went on with the Savage I had to really for the bullet down the barrel. I even used a steel brush to try to clean the Savage. How did any of you clean the Savage and keep it easy loading. I would prefer the Savage as far as getting distance and accuracy. I even thought about the TC Omega. Anyone have one? Just trying to find out what muzzleloader I will be purchasing this year.

well im going to get a savage & will us smokeless powder only,no black powder crud to deal with,there may be some plastic residue to deal with but it cant be as bad as 777,mike243

What kind of powder are you using in the Savage? I can't understand what would be causing the sabot/bullet to be increasingly difficult to load, especially if you are using smokeless powder. You aren't using bore butter in the barrel are ya?

THe Savage is 500 FPS faster with no fouling. It is very accurate. I like the encores, but there is no comparison, the Savage wins hands down. Now if they ever start making a smokeless Encore........

i have been told that the encore has been tested & would work but theres too much $ to be lost something ever happened,the blued barrel model is $505 plus tax when ordered thru wal-mart,when i get some $ i will let my brother see what kind of price he can get it for,mike243

And for at least two of us, a modified Savage in a few weeks.

What do you say Kevin?

Soon there will be at least two Savages in TN that will push 180-200 gr bullets as fast as my 7.08 does 140's.

I am itching to get the Pac Nor .45 cal barrel screwed on and dialed in!!!! And as quick as I can get it shooting, I have a few groundhog dens picked out!
