For some reason known only to me I have decided to build a flintlock 12 guage shotgun in the English sporting style. Here is a pic of a fine example

Instead of buying a barrel I have used one from a single shot shotgun I found in an old shed over 40 years ago I cut some of the chamber end off , threaded it on the inside, made and fitted a breechplug then cleaned everything up with 180 grit sandpaper


I ordered a grade 4 curly maple rough preformed stock and inlet the barrel and tang



I used some spare time this weekend to cut, grind, silver solder and polish the barrel under rib and ramrod thimbles. This will be soldered to the barrel in a couple of days then the ramrod hole has to be drilled, which is the scariest part of the whole project. One wrong move and a $250.00 piece of wood is ruined :bash:

I will also be making the trigger mechanism, buttplate and triggerguard so the only thing left to buy is the flintlock

The reason for the gap between the stock and underrib is for the pewter nosecap that will be poured on

what did ya do to modify it? peep sight?
