Shot several full boxes with no misfires..... How compressed are the rims after the misfire?

Sounds more like a gun issue.

I have shot 2 boxes before switching to the CCI 20gr gamepoints, and have had no problem with them.Is your 17 a marlin?Mine is and I think it has a weak firing pin or something, everynow and then you will get a missfire, but if you work the bolt and use that same shell it will fire,If you inspect your cartridge after the misfire you will see where the fireing pin hit the primer real lightly.I have heard of other marlin owners haveing this problem. But other than that i love my little marlin.

I have a 17hmr in Savage model 93 and haven't had any issues. I've only shot right at one box of 50 through it though.

Simple Fix, dont use the hornady ammo and use the CCI FMJ or remington 17gr accutip
