Well, late is better than never, around 3:15 the FedEx truck backed up in my driveway and unloaded a beautiful sight. I was off today, and had high hopes the driver would be in my hood early, but no luck there.
Here is the goods.

Man those are shiny

I know you are proud Tim. And you can always tell a man that is very particular with his handloads. Very nice work. I will get there one day.

I wish you the best of luck this weekend. Hope you stack em one on top of the other.

I have done about all I dare for the evening, but I got 80 rounds ready to fireform. I have a good 100 more cases, that I will get to soon. I wanted more than I thought I could need so I can sort through them for the goodys.

I sure appreciate the kind comments, it makes the work worthwhile.

You sorry Thang! With all those new barrels you gonna need a gunbearer at Oak Ridge? Bwana hire me? Pasi, Pasi.

I'm going to Chattanooga to look at lathes in a little while. The fever has gotten to me too. I may have a buyer for the boat that's sitting in my lathe space in the garage waiting to become a lathe.

This is cool, I got up this morning and went ahead and added powder to the next 40 cases I lubed last night, and went to the range this AM and fireformed 120 pieces of brass without 1 failure. I have 56 more to fireform and I can take that barrel off, and replace it with a brand new blank. How nice is that, very economical.

Talk of owning your own lathe, and knowing all the levers, has to be over the top cool.

Well the trip to Chattanooga cost me but not big. I didn't buy a lathe yet. I'm looking around at some used and some new and need to make up my mind soon. That's the only way I'll know for sure the quality of work done on my barrels and actions. At Chattanooga though I went by Sportsman's Warehouse and there were 4 lonely boxes of the 105 Berger VLDs for only $21.99 each so they had to come home with me to care for them. If they don't behave, I'll light a fire under their tail. I figured I'll probably never see any at that price again the way bullets have went up. Only bad thing is they are two boxes of one lot and two boxes of another. Can't have everything for a bargain though.

You're doing well not to lose any brass fireforming. Most folks lose a few out of every 100 to split necks or such. That Lapua brass quality really helps with that though. Even though they don't load as easily, I don't outside chamfer my necks until after they are fireformed. I don't know if it helps or not but I like to think I'm helping strengthen the neck for fireforming. It may be wasted, but whatever.

I have heard some very good things about the South Bend Heavy 10 lathe. The have been out of production for some time, but a not so used one would be something else.

They've got some South Bend Lathes at the local Vo-Tech school that I understand they're going to be replacing soon and surplusing. I'm keeping an eye on them and have also found one in Georgia. That sucker weighs 4000 lbs. so I'm going to need a small army if I decide on it. It's in great shape and only used by one owner for hobby work. We'll see what I decide. It's fun just looking.
