Thanks stik, I definetly have a 24" barrel, that just goes along with what the other guys have said along with youself. I'm going too start with 80gr and build from there. I hope the 80gr load will work for me and my ML

Thanks again GRAMPS, I'm not built whimpy, but after a shoulder surgery and pain that I lived with for the last 12+ year, they can call me a whimp. It looks like a decent recoil pad, and I didn't get to town today, it was to pretty here to go to town, so I've still got to buy the 209's, and a measuring device, anyone got a reccomendation for a good measuring device, please let me know.
thanks, Randy

What is the specific name of the winchester 209 primers made for inlines, I think I didn't get the name, and today at a sporting goods stote had winchester 209 primers, do they have 777, or triple 7, on the box.

That's what they look like. Winchester Triple Seven primers.

Thanks trapperjohn, I found a box of them at Gander Mountain, I got the Win. 777's and a powder measurer, so all I need to do is patch it, load it, shoot it, clean it again, keep the barrel slicked down with bore butter. I'm ready for deer season to get here.

What kind of scope, and what power of scope do y'all use on your muzzle loaders. my eyes aren't what they used to be. I have a 3-9x42mm 8" long scope I had on my Yugo Sks, I also have a Shooters Edge 4-12x40 scope I bought, and its on my Remington 11-87 12ga shotgun. I can swap the scopes if needed.

Be careful with the Bore Butter. Several of us on here have had bad experiences with it when using Triple Seven powder. It "gunks up" for some reason and makes some thick sludge in the barrel and the accuracy suffers because of it. I just quit using it and my accuracy came back and cleaning is as easy as ever.

For what it's worth I use a fixed 4x Nikon scope on my muzzleloader, but that's mainly because we hunt wooded areas and 50-75 yards is a long shot for us.

Remington also makes a "clean" 209 primer. It's called "KleanBore" I believe.

Hey TrapperJohn, and MUP, Thanks for the heads up. Do you need to to use the bore butter on the 1st few shot to break in the barrel, as it says to do when you the ML is fired for the 1st few times.
