I work in the ski boat industry and I us an old ski rope around the neck. Still have to drag you just don't have to bend over and hurt your back.

I have had to use my arms on my jacket before. Got so dang hot didn't need the jacket and did need a way to get the deer out of there. Tied one arm around his neck and through the other over my shoulder. A lil' hillbilly ingenuity.

Shot a hog once back in the swamp. Dragging through cypress knees was a $*%#!
Cut a couple saplings into poles about 10' long and tied a crossbar to make an inverted A. Tied the hogs feet to the pole "handles" and tied the body onto the crossbar and drug it out like a wheelbarrow. Much easier but the point of the A would hang up on cypress knees. If I have to do that again, I would design it more like an H.
Works good on flat ground, dont know how much it would help on hilly terrain.

I carry a 8' piece of 1/2" dock rope and tie it in a circle, it works great and the bigger rope does'nt cut into your shoulder.

if you're hunting from a stand - or even if you're not - use your full body harness. I wear the harness, loop the "tree end" around the deer's neck, clip the carabiner just like attaching the harness to a tree, and start walking. sure it's still hard work, but a lot easier b/c my hands are free and my whole body is doing the work.
