Went out with two of my buddies for a day calling yotes. Had one show up on the second set and bust us without any shots being fired. I was toting my 22 mag since we hit a WMA first thing. My buddy parked his Jeep at the edge of the woods and we worked down the hollar. Visibility was terrible so i walked back up to the Jeep and walked in the woods about 15 yds where i could see good up the ridge. Had just got done with my first set when i spotted a yote working out the ridge. Excitement took over and i started lip squeaking forgetting all about the Jeep sitting right behind me. Yote came trotting on out and came to a dead stop and spun seeing the jeep. I shot and the yote took off. MISS!!! Started barking and got him stopped again out a little past 100 yds. Put the crosshairs on his shoulders and squeezed off another one. He immediately dropped, but got right back up and kicked on the afterburners. Went up to see if it was laying in the hollar and didnt see it. Went back to find my buddies to tell them what happened and took one back with me to try to find a blood trail. Found one that was faint until it headed back up the ridge and started bleeding heavy. Followed the trail about 200 yds and lost it. Kept making small circles but couldnt pick it up. Told my buddy i was going to the top of the ridge and swing around and go down the next point and call it quits if i couldnt pick it back up. Came across it again coming down the point and it was bleeding bad by this point. Followed it another 75 yds where it went in a hole. Stuck a stick in there and could feel it but couldnt get it out and there was no way i was putting my hand in there to pull it out.

Congrats Smoke! As far as I'm concerned, you got him!! Good shot! Are you using hollow points for that 22mag?
