Light artillery takes a little more powder. It hits the pocket pretty bad when you're using right at 100 grains of powder per throw.

I see many getting WSM'itis these days while I'm getting small-bore'itis. It's more enjoyable for me to be able to see my shots than to come off of recoil.

I don't own any magnums as I see no need for them in TN. A .260 has the same ballistics as a .300 WM and will kill as far as you need it to. Not only is it costly to throw charges, the heavier bullets are also more expensive.

And you're shooting game far enough to need a 300RUM?. It's not needed in these parts.

A .260 may not be a 300RUM but I guarantee you it'll take deer as far as one can hold accurately.

these parts may not be the only place I ever hunt,,,I do 90% of my deer hunting in Tn with a bow,the rest mostly a 308,,if I need the horsepower to blow something up on out there I got it.

I bought a 300 RUM for a specific use, long range shooting. Most of my deer hunting will be with a 7mm Mauser and a 223. If I plan on hunting past 300yds, I'm going with the big boy! I hunt alot of clear-cuts that offer shots up to 700-800yd, not saying I could be effective at that range but the shots are there.
