I am kind of new to predator hunting so i still have a lot to learn. I have seen a bobcat 2 times aready this year. Both times being during bow hunting season. I have an electronic call and tried hunting this area about 3 diff times already this year. My question is: What is going to be my best approach? The place where I am seeing this cat is where the neighbor pushed down about 20 acres of trees. Why? I have no idea. There is no way to get to in and out to hunt the center of this area. Also, most of the places that are accessible have so much undergrowth I wouldnt be able to get a good shot off if necessary. What should I do? Hunt the outskirts and try to catch it sneakin up or what? I have never killed a bobcat so any help or tips would greatly be appreciated.

I would just hunt the edges and study the landscape very carefully before calling. Cats are notorious for just appearing out of nowhere. Sometimes they will appear as a "stump" that wasn't there before etc. Just keep your eyes peeled for anything that appears abnormal. See the last couple replies under my cat post for some good calling tips that might help. Good luck to you on your hunts!

bobcats love the thick brush , its somewhere they can hide and be safe. i would get 75 yards or so from the area and call for about 30 seconds and just stop and wait five and see if he pops out. if not the call 30 more seconds . good luck

Well, I called in a bobcat yesterday at about 5:30 pm. I had only seen bobcats in one place on my lease, so I set up there. Basically, it's where several draws meet in a hardwood bottom. I was mostly using wounded rabbit calls. Right at 30 minutes, a male came barreling in, and I could hear him from a long way away because of the leaves. When he got to within about 10 yards of the speaker, he stopped and didn't move for several minutes. I wasn't even sure if he was still there until he barreled out of there. I could have pounded him pretty good, but the bobcat season ended the day before.
I also called in an owl on my first set-up, and it was way cool. This was my 2nd try at pred hunitng and first to ever see anything. Tons of fun!!!
