I have been askin around a lot lately trying to learn for myself. What I have come up with so far is:
use a decoy, doesnt even have to be a pricey one, a stuffed animal will work sometimes.
Play the wind as they can smell you like deer
electronic calls work, and they work even better if they can be remotely controlled (i.e. putting the call near the decoy) That keeps the focus off of you and directly on the decoy. Also, get one that you can remotely control the volume. If it is too loud, as they approach they might get alarmed.
Mouth calls are good to mix up the sounds that are being played.
Stay in an area for 30 - 45 mins and then move to a different one.
Yotes than have not been hunted before are TYPICALLY much eaiser to call in than ones that have been hunted. Make that first shot count cause they learn quick.
My friend killed one at the end of Jan while deer hunting in MS. He saw the yote, whistled at it, after the third try, the yote came right to him. They are curious and if you can really get their interest, it should be fairly easy. They are fast though and if you dont hit em good the first time, they are GONE!!!!

rabbits I would say are best....I have not heard exactly how to properly call em in using yote pups or howls. I know the males "rut" and will fight each other like bucks do so they might come in ready to fight. I picked up a rigor rabbit decoy and I am going to get a decoy that looks like an f'ed up chipmunk on a rod. Using those, I call with the rabbit distress. Call off and on and the decoy I have will move sometimes and then sit still sometimes. The combo will work for sure.
We saw a dozen or so during deer season this year so IMO, we have a "problem". I havent hunted em this year, going to Sat hopefully. I drove onto our place and had one walk out 100 yds in front of me and didnt even act like he cared I was there. He watched me and my truck and kept on walkin......dindt have anything but my .45 pistol at that time. Just like I said before, if they havent been hunted or tried to kill em, they arent very shy and "scared" of you.

The best electronic call for the money I have found is the Cass Creek NOMAD MX3. Its less than a hundred bucks. It has a remote control with volume control. It "throws the sound" so that it can seem like the sound is moving. It has five different sounds: Jack Rabbit, Cottontail rabbit, yote howl, yote pup yips, & Fawn distress. The remote works about 100 yards away.....far enough to take the attention off of you and onto the decoy.

sounds good!! so you think a stuffed animal that looks like a rabbit will work or any kind of small rodent should work? at the farm that i hunt on we just had a cow die you was woundering if i could use that as some bait by the end of the week once it starts to smell and rot. or would have better luck not hunting around that and just using calls?

its illegal in TN to hunt even yotes over bait. Cant shoot em over a deer gutpile. Cant even shoot em over something that you didnt place out and didnt kill yourself. Use a decoy and call em in. A stuffed animal will definately work. Put some scent cover on it though. Of course, buying a decoy that moves would help, but its not neccessary. Remember, it needs to be seen from a distance so if you put it on the ground in say a field of straw, it wont been seen as well. A lightweight real fuzzy furry one that you mount on a stick or shaft where the wind could blow it and make it move would work real well

Well i guess that idea would work!!! thanks for the advice before i got cought doing it. i would be in some really deep s*** then. What if i put it on a pole or stick where it can be seen and tie a string to it that i can pull to make it move or should i just let the wind move it. Do yotes eat turkeys cause i got a turkey decoy or do they like rabbits and other small game better?

anything they can get their grubby little paws on.....same as bobcats. They will take out some turkeys and quail like crazy. I dont know if a turkey decoy would work....seems to me that a rabbit is a much easier meal for them and they might not go after turkeys in the wide open simply because a turkey is so fast and its eyesight is so good.
You could probably tie a string to it and jerk it some to help make it move. Make sure the string isint seen too well and again, use scent cover on everything. Basically, if the yote hears a call and then sees something out in the field that looks like food. He'll go for it, just be still and take your shot when its right. He'll be focused on the decoy and sound, but can spot you quick if you move. Im going to hunt out of a shooting house so that I am off the ground and can look down over the decoy

yea your probably right about the turkey decoy. i was thinking about useing fishing line since its somewhat clear where it would be harder for them to see the string.
thanks for all your help its tought me alot
