I was wondering what loads(powder, bullet and sabot)you where shooting out of your savage m/l. Also do you notice any fouling from the sabot itself, with the increased bullet speed. Thanks for the info.

Well you are going to get a whole bunch of options from others but I have 2 guns and in both I use 60 grs. of VV-N120. As for bullets I get my best grouping with the 300 grn. 45/70 458 diameter 300 grn bullet with the orange sabot. The other gun for whatever reason does not group that bullet well but likes the barnes expander bullet in the 250 or 300 grain using the sabots that come with them. If you are new to this gun I would suggest a web site of http://www.Randywakeman.com that is pretty much dedicated to that gun and has tons of info on it. There is another site but I can not think of it right off the top of my head but somebody will post it out here . As for foulings that has never been an issue for me and I have been shooting them for almost 10 years. You will get plenty of help...trust me!

This weekend was the first time I shot mine. I used the 300 gr mz expander from Barnes. Accuracy @ 100 yds was amazing last 3 shots were in a 2" group. Looking forward to shooting SST 250's when my sabot's come in from MMP. Used accurate arms powder 44g. I do have a question though what is a "Wonder Wad"? was reading a post about a guy with 3" groups @ 300 yds and he mentioned them.
thanks steve

Here is a link to the kind that I use. They seem to protect the sabot base a little better than without. "wonder wads" Click on link

Do you use them between the powder and the bullet? I assume it would be to improve accuracy.

Do you use them between the powder and the bullet? I assume it would be to improve accuracy. Yes, pour in powder, and add felt wad. There are two schools of thought concerning their usage. Some do and some don't. I believe that they assist accuracy when using hotter loads. The bore in many of the Savage ML2's are rough. It can be rough on a sabot base. The wonder wad helps to maintain sabot base integrity thereby promoting accuracy.

I shoot the 245gr Barnes MZ, 250gr Barnes Expanders and 250gr Hornady SST's with 72grs of Reloader 10. I get a little over 2300fps. I usually go with Winchester primers. I also use the sabots supplied from Barnes or MMP's if I have to use others.
