I've got the itch to go out and hunt some squirrels. With the absence of mast this year, anybody got any suggestions on what type of area to hunt? I saw quite a few during bow season on what few oaks produced (I'm in Hardeman County), but not so much during deer season. Would appreciate any tips.
Thanks

Cool- thanks. Have to get some Gold Bond. Will try the same hardwoods I saw them in before. They don't migrate, do they? (the squirrels.... bet the hardwoods are still there!)

I see you're in Brownsville. I used to hunt in Mercer before getting my new place. Where do you hunt?

I've heard a lot on here about Chaney Lake- sounds like a good group there. I have 1300 acres in Hardeman south of Bolivar, just me and six other friends.

Deer (lots) and turkey. We have 2 1/2 miles of Spring Creek bordering us, and a few beaver ponds. See quite a few wood ducks and there's one beaver pond my son has duck hunted. Nothing consistent on big ducks, though. We took 35 does and 7 bucks off it this year. About 1000 aqcres of it had not been hunted in 3 years so we have a pretty good population of more mature bucks, and can't tell how many bucks we passed up. I've got it on a ten year lease, so we'll be there for a while.
