Ditto!

17HMR drop at 300 with .0 zero is 35"

204 drop at 300 with a 1.5" zero is 3.5"

BIG DIFFERENCE!

204 is the cheapest high performance round to reload on the market,,it goes faster and flatter than calibers that burn twice the powder and over twice the bullet weight,,

it is a small varmint exploder,,crows, and such and will drop a yote or groundhog,,the next step in varmint calibers is the 25-06 with 75 gr V-Max bullets over 3700,that will do cartwheels with groundhogs and turn a yote inside out,,

Any reasons why? Are the rounds cheap? Does it shoot flater?

The price of ammo is significantly less expensive, about $10 per box of 50. You can also get a wider variety of bullet choices from 30 grains to 50 grains. It doesn't shoot flatter than an HMR, but on a day with a slight breeze, the 22 Mag bullet will not drift as much as the HMR. The 204 is a much flatter shooting rifle, but it is significanly more expensive to shoot. If money is not an issue, then the 204 is the way to go.

Nothing, it's my personal choice but you have to admit the 204 Ruger has some pretty impressive ballistics.

Nice Mike. I plan on loading some lighter rounds for the 243 this year to experiment a little. I am currently loading 75gr vmax's for the windy days on the big fields. The 204 is great out to 300 with no wind, but the wind plays heck with it past that.

yea it gets them all at some point til they hit something \:\) the 243 has less drop than the 25-06 at 500yards when both shoot there lightest weight bullets & thats what i would shoot for varmits instead of buying a new calibur just for that purpose, now if i had $ to spend i would like to have 1 of every calibur, each 1 has a atribute that a diffrent cal dosent & finding it is alot of fun from what i have read,im not knocking the 204 or the 2506 but the 243 is hard to beat for a allpurpose calibur,i may read up un the 243wsm & see what the balistics look like just for fun,mike243
