I just went Kampfield Custom in .223AI on Remington Varminter with Rock Creek Rem. Varmint contour with 1/8 twist. I thought about .204 but .223 brass was too easy to be had over .204.

If I went custom, I`d be thinking 20 Practical with Lapua 223 brass. I have me a pile of goodies at work, new cleaning rod, brass and 3 boxes of 35 gr Bergers. Many choices on the rifles, but Gunbroker has way better deals than I can get at Sportmans on the XR100. We have so many 204`s it is a hard pick. SPS 204, SPS Varmint, LVSF, XR100, SPS SS, VSSF II, VS, SS VL.

Mercy.............

I am sure I messed up on some of the models, but we got plenty.

The CZ 427 that my Dad has is scary accurate. It shoots 4 factory loads @ less than .5 inch and 2 @ les than a 1/4. Other than ammo prices there is no reason to reload for that gun.

I know my LVSF 22-250 has more recoil than the ones with heavy barrels. If I were to buy another it would be this http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=91201651 or that XR100 would work also, especially seeing as how they are $200 cheaper ;\) .

Good Lord, you guys are killing me! I think I may end up with more then one varmint rifle!! Dr. D, I really like that gun!!

What do you fellas think of the Savage series of varmint rifles? I've read quite a bit about them on different forums and everyone only seems to have good things to say about them.

I`ve been around them a lot lately and have learned to appreciate the rifles. Still have no lines to fall in love with, but the metalwork is nice, bolt smooth to operate, and an excellent reputation.
The newer ones with the large bolt handle would be my pick. I have sold one of their 1" tube right bolt left port rifles to a friend. It was chambered in .223 9 twist, we had another in 22/250 12 twist. Those both sold for $829.99. Lota gun for that kind of $.
