Has anyone used the federal barns expanders 12 gauge slug?
I bought a new shotgun for deer hunting and they recommend Federal Premium Vital-shok. I have never used this particular brand.

I've used the Barnes a lot. They work great. Hunted Minnesota for years and always had good results- one shot kills on deer that field dressed between 225 and 265 lbs. Excellent penetration, and will shoot a 1-2 inch group at 100 yards out of my Hastings rifled barrel. Longest kill was 125 yards with no problems.

I won't shoot anything but the SST's. They are a little more expensive and kick like a mule. Very accurate and devistating on deer.

I've tried many of the different sabot slugs out of my H&R USH 20 gauge. I killed 1 deer with the barnes expander and 2 with the SST. Both performed awesomely. All 3 - 1 shot kills. Buy both and shoot them and use the ones that pattern best out of your gun.
