Im think that im going to purchase a couple 1000 rounds of 223 ammo for my AR for hard times.(if there ever is)And store them in the back of the safe.I will probly buy the Wolf brand as they are the cheapest.Where do you guys usually purchase your bulk ammo from?Reason i ask is because i want the cheapest price possible. Also what is the best way to store it,and for how long will it last being stored?

This is a question which needs clarification 1st. AR-15's have different twist rates, dependant on the age. EG: my 40 yr old colt will shoot the lighter 55gr and below better. The govt wanted a little heavier round years later and went to the 62gr. but the newer 15's have the twist rates to accomidate the heavier round. With that said, if you watch http://www.sportsmansguide.com you can get some good bulk buy, especially on wolf. Some folks don't like wolf, but if you go to http://www.boxotruth.com they did tests on "cheap ammo" and expain very well, why wolf has a bad rep. Once in a while cabelas has bulk on sale, but it was always the 62 gr. so I passed. As for storing it, humidity is the killer. Desicant will help alot, get some 50 cal ammo cans with good seals, and rotate the desicant.

aimsurplus.com usually has some decent deals. I hate to say but 223 has went through the roof. 7.62x39 is still pretty reasonable.

ammoman, natchez shooter supply, sometimes midway usa. Ar15.com usually has a list of who has what and how much on a sticky. The last 9mm and 223 I bought in bulk was from sportsmansguide. I hope you're sitting down when you buy it though because it went through a huge price increase a couple weeks ago. I read on glocktalk that 45 ammo went up like 50%
