My dad has had a browning gold 12 guage for the past 5 years. the gun operates great, the only problem is the barrell wont budge! it hasnt been removed in 18 months and needs to be cleaned but we dont know what to do. Any suggestions to get the two apart are greatly appreciated along with ideas as to how this might have happened. thanks

Not trying to be funny, but does he still have the papers/manual that came with it(assuming that he bought it new)? From time to time when I haven't done something like that in a while, I tend to forget the steps and have never failed to accomplish the mission when I resort to the manual. I don't know this model, but many are actually on the manufacturers websites. Good luck.

They come off the same way as a 1100. Unscrew the nut at the end of the magazine, slide the forearm off, you may have to open the action, and it should slide off.

If it's stuck on the mag. tube, try sticking it in the freezer for a couple of hours. Heck, with this weather, just leave it outside overnight. The thin wall of the tube should contract more than the barrel lug. Sometimes it works and sometimes it don't. Just a thought.

Also pour some kroil oil around the barrel ring and let it soak in between the magazine tube and the barrel ring.

Take the barrel, put your strong hand and thumb around the barrel ring the weak hand around the action and twist them opposite of each other many times for a minute and then pull.
Kroil is a penetrating oil, many brands out there if you cannot find Kroil.
You loosen the barrel like above, I don`t think you`ll need the oil.

Kroil oil is sold at most hardware stores, and maybe places like autozone.
