What grain bullet do you prefer for whitetails? 150, 165, 180, or 200? I'm thinking that the 165 would be a good choice, but what do I know. Thanks!!

150 and 168 work great. I couldn't tell any difference in the two really.

I shoot the Hornady 165's, my model 70 loves those. Figures too, one of the most expensive rounds out there but they do well for me

Never had a problem with Core-Lokt 150s. Do what I need them to for around here.

I've started using Federal Fusion 165 gr. I used to shoot Core-lokt 165s but the Federals hold a tighter pattern. I shot 2 deer with them this year and neither went over 50 yards.

Try different types out at different ranges and see wich one you and your gun likes the best. It is all a personal choice.

Thanks!![/quoteI've never hunted whitetails with 200gr, but the other three work just fine. I started with 180 then went to 150 and settled on 165. However, all of that is just playin' around, because starting with 150 you end up with graveyard dead deer with each. And after all, that's the object. lol

On light skinned game like a whitetail, I think I'll take the 150 gr every time. Theoretically, the 150 will expand sooner than the 165 gr. 165 gr will get you more penetration prior to expanding. Now on a 325 lb Canadian beast whitetail, I'll choose the 165 or maybe even the 180 gr.

If its a remington 700 I recommend a 165gr nosler NBT or Partition over 56.0 H414 with the bullet seated at 3.810" which is .010" off the lands. My CDLSF LOVES this combo. Consistant 1/2" groups at 104yd every time.
