Wal-mart had one of these for $325.00. Is this a decent gun or does Remington sell a cheaper version to Wal-mart?

I bought one of those to use for the basis for a target rifle back a few months ago. No problem with it at all. You might want to check if there's still a rebate on them. When I got mine it was $320 here in Athens less a $30 rebate from the factory which I've already received. The ones here didn't have iron sights which didn't matter to me anyway and the barrel without sights made a good one for my gunsmith to reuse in a project. I'm too old to see sights anymore anyway. I sold the stock off mine and still have the trigger and box magazine. The action has now been blueprinted and has a 28" benchrest barrel and weighs about 16 pounds. If that's what you want get it.

I've had some gun store salesmen tell me that the Wally World firearms are cheaper versions and not available to them - course, other product line salesmen (tires & electronics) tell me the same thing.

I bought that same rifle from Wally World over 7 years ago - no problems whatsoever - keep in mind Remington and none of the other major firearms manufacturers are going to distribute poor quality products - can't stand the hit on their reputations.

In the past I have noticed that WalMart offered some models that were non-cataloged items from the manufacturers. They offered Marlins with lower quality wood and Savages with only rough exteriors with no machining. They're cheaper to make for the discount stores but I only saw cosmetic differences. The ADL models like the one I bought are the same rifle that's produced for general distribution.
