Thinking about heading to reelfoot with out a guide for a long weekend. Any major pros or cons to this other than they know the water and where the best holes are. Can you set a temp blind anywhere or is it registered sites only?
I was thinking of taking my 13' canoe and electric motor. I also have a 18' with a 70hp but thought might be to big and just get in everyones way.

You can set temporary blinds up on reelfoot as long as you are 200 yards away from a permanent blind but if you are not familiar with the place and not a local it can get pretty crazy I have duck hunted down there for years but it has been about 6 years since I have been on the lake. My dad and friends have a pit between reelfoot and lake Isom thats where I go know when a go there. Heard from a Wildlife Officer today that it is covered up with ducks that moved in yesterday and last night.

I am hearing the same thing, ducks are in big time after this last front.
How is the river looking out your way? A bunch of stuff flying in East tn but they are VERY high and are not responding to calls or decoys. Not much for geese around but hoping for a few more with this last cold front.
I also found a new web site for duck hunting, TNDucks.com

I am TNduck also there rr. We have tons of new ducks in the area. We didn't get to go today but I heard from alot of people with big numbers today in the bottoms and on the river. We are going to have to huntout of the boat blind the rest of the year the wind monday night bust out our pole brackets on our blind. We killed 2 tuesday hunting off the bank. We went out to hunt the blind and it was missed up. So we picked up a few dekes and went and hunted off the bank we had taken the boat blind off the boat.

My big boat needs a new stator (200+ dollars) so big water is out for me for the rest of the season. I am going to try to find a few small water spots. Hopefully I can do some jumpshooting like I used to do in Maine. Used to pound the woodies stalking small back wood streams.

That is what we are going to do tommorrow we are floating the Obion River for about 7 miles since everything will be froze up. Last time everything was locked up and we did it we limited out before we got 4 miles down it.

JT, how was the river? could you float a canoe on it or will I get pushed out by bigger boats? Reelfoot and AR look super hot right now just have to find the time to get out that way.

The part of the Obion we float is not that big. We use a 10ft jon boat. It is to shallow to get a big boat down that part. You are right reelfoot has been smokin em the past 3 days.
