Anyone have any suggestions on what type(s) of gloves work the best in extreme temperatures?

Artic shield are pretty good, but the best thing that I have found is to get one of those handwarmer pouches around your waist with some hothands in them. Then you can wear a lighter, thinner pair. I don't like to wear big bulky gloves and try to shoot with them on. You can pull your hands out of this pouch pretty quick.

Having grown up in WI and hunted there most of my life. Ditch the gloves and get mittens or a muff and hand warmers. Most of the heat in your hands is from adjacent fingers. The time your hands our outside to shoot should not be that long.

I have a pair of those gloves with the cut-off fingers and the pull-over mitten that I've used for 7 or 8 years, and I absolutely love them. They allow me the dexterity to shoot or do quick tasks, and the warmth to sit still and not fumble around. I've seen them made by several manufacturers.
Some of the newer styles also have a little spot for putting hand warmers inside them. That's an added bonus for those super-cold days.

This is the same sytem I use but I took an old pair and cut the fold over mitten part off and double insulated my new pair. It has to get prwtty darn cold before I need the hand warmers.

I use thin gloves with hand warmers either in a muff or the pockets of my vest.
