I have a simple question for most. I have sighted a few scopes but it has been a while. I havent had any reason to make any adjustments over the last few years. I am going to shoot my 25-06 Encore tomorrow and I am sure that I will have to make some adjustments. What adjustments do the knobs make? Does the knob move the crosshairs in the direction printed on the knob? Or does it move the point of impact in the printed direction? This is probably a very simple thing, but I have been thinking too hard, and now have myself confused.

Thanks

it moves the poit of impact the way it says,,should have an R and an arrow or and U and an arrow,,but some scopes you screw them down to go up but it should be marked.

ditto what mr.big said. Also you need to know if its 1/4 inch or 1/8 inch adjustments. Its most likely 1/4 though.

It moves the point of impact, which means the crosshairs move opposite..POA up=CH down..

the crosshairs are fixed and do not move,,the adjustments move the angle of lenses inside the scope that actually moves where the target focuses on the crosshair.

the reason the better the scope is aligned with the bore the better the scope will function and the clearer edge to edge it will be,,if you gotta screw it near all the way left your lookin through that lens at about a 45 degree angle which blurrs it considerably,,the flatter you can keep the lenses inside the better..

I agree with all said above, but will add one thing and hope it doesn't muddy the waters. ;\) \:D

A scope is like a bow sight, although it is marked UP> DN> the image actually moves the opposite direction.

If your looking through the scope while adjusting it, on a grid bore sighter or on a target you will see this. This is important to remember if one ever needs to shim a scope or mount. The same that apllies to open sights then applys here as well.Rear-moved in the direction you need impact to go,Front -moved to the opposite way you want it to or simply the direction it is shooting(which is the same as a pin sight on a bow).
