I was wondering what experience yall have had when it comes to predator hunting. I know that many take yotes and cats while deer hunting, but I plan on doing some predator hunting after deer season. I was wondering what calls and decoys you find most effective, as well and terrain. I know where the yotes are and where they are treveling cause I have seen a bunch this year on our place, I have not seen a bobcat and was wondering "where" I should hunt them i.e. woods, edges, open??? Thanks

I have gone several times with positive results. Its something to do when deer and turkey season is out. And its really fun. Check this guy out he knows what he is doing. He has a tape with Primos on how to hunt coys. He is located in Memphis. http://www.decoyheart.com his email is yoteman@bellsouth.net he's a nice guy if you want to contact him, he'll fill your ear full! Good luck!

They have plenty of electronic callers to choose from but I like using hand calls. This gives you more versatility and with a little practice is not too hard. Pull up an internet sight with coyote and bobcat sounds and practice until you sound like them. I have not had much luck hunting cats in open fields. In my experience, I have better luck in the woods around rock bluffs and at the edge of thick, overgrown fields. Cats do not come into calls as quickly as coyotes so be patient. It may take a cat 45 minutes or so to respond to a call. I never used a decoy so I can't comment on that. Hope this helps.

I've used the decoy heart and it works, I had a grey fox stalking one, he almost made it. I had another come in and was so focused on the decoy that I shot and missed {forgot to take my turkey choke out, XXX full) and he did'nt even run off, he just moved a little and kept approching the decoy, I did'nt miss the second time. You have to play the wind with coyotes and be very still, most mature coyotes are difficult to kill, especially if they have been hunted much.

Try this site http://www.predatormastersforums.com Go to the forums - one good thread is in "Calling in the East," and pinned "Calling Tactics and Sounds?"
Just beware: predator hunting can get to be very habit-forming and expensive!! Loads of fun, tho'
