thinking about getting a 7mm rum or other new rifle. if not that maybe one of the short mags. anyone got any suggestions?

I would go with one of the short mags over the 7mm RUM. Ammo probably easier to find, and if you reload the components should be cheaper.

I love my WSM's. The RUM will not get you any more Max Point Blank Range (maybe 10-20 yds) but you will feel the increased recoil.

Well,as much as I would like to have a 7mm RUM I agree with the above for the most part.The other thing being your going be liminted on rifle choices in it.

The 7mm RUM is overbore and from everything I have read is the hardest of the RUM's to find a load for very picky in some rifles. Plus if you shoot alot 1,000 rounds is about all you will get out of the barrel. BTW I had the same itch until I done some researching.

well with all that being said. i was thinking or getting the rum in remington wood stock blue finish.
if you were to get a win short mag what type of rifle would you buy. i want to get a wood stock blue barreled rifle. i already have enough composite rifles.
give me all your picks for a wood stock rifle.

I've had the same itch for a while now...I've been doing some research on the .300 wsm and talking to others who have that caliber..I looked at it in the Savage 10 and 11 models I believe and also the Browning A-Bolt Medallion. These are both walnut stock with blue barrel...They also chamber all other wsm calibers...My uncle says that Ruger makes a .300 wsm and some other wsm's but I could not find these calibers on their website.

1- Win M-70 Classic FWT and these will be back in 08
2- Kimber
3- A-bolt while you can still get one. Prefer the Hunter in there wood stocks.
But like I should have said earlier get What You Want.

I`d grab a 270WSM in the above model #3 choice. The A-Bolt Hunter.
