I cut two of the round tips off with bolt cutters. Now those two ends are sort of sharp and it grabs even better.

Dropped a flashlight whith it still on one time. Switched to a head light after that.

Bought something like that at WalMart a couple of years ago. I use the hook, but the string was too thin to grab a holt of.

I was at LBL last year and dropped my glove and I took an arrow tied it to my 550 pull up cord and after about ten minutes I did manage to fish up my glove it took awhile but it was intertaining I like your method better and will be adding one to my pack. Thanks for the Tip!

That's a fantastic idea! It reminds me of a trick I learned from an old friend and bowhunter in Illinois. He carried a half dozen large treble hooks in his pocket along with a small spool of 14lb. test fishing line. If he had a nearby limb that he couldn't reach to trim from his stand, he'd toss a treble hook out, snag the limb and tie it out of his way. I've used this trick several times over the past 10 years.

I have a big treble hook that has the barbs cut off. I have to keep some rubber over the points while it is my fanny pack. Works great.

I buy the largest treble hook that BPS have and cut off the barb and paint them orange & put reflective tape on them to keep from losing them and also to see that it is hooked to what I am pulling up.
