Who out there hunts with real muzzleloaders. I've hunted with a TC White Mtn. Carbine since 1990 when they came out. I have open iron sights , shoot real black powder and lead bullets. I feel like this is more of a challenge this way. I like the feel of the rifle and have taken plenty of deer with it. Before anyone says hunt with a bow if you want challenge, I do use a circa 1960 recurve for bow season.

nice buck. Didn't mean to come across as trying to kick up a hornets nest. Just trying to find out who had similar interests. Sorry if it came across the wrong way.

And a word of advice: with only three posts to your name yet, please don't start an in-line vs. sidelock argument here. We all went through that for the past few years, and enough's enough.
Good Advice!

Nothing wrong with hunting with a traditional muzzleloader. If you don't think my Savage ML-II smokeless gun isn't "real", try telling that to the pile of deer that it has stacked up in the past 7 or 8 years. I have never had a hang fire, much less a miss fire.

I used to hunt with a rifle I made 20 years ago, based on a Sharon .50 caliber with L&R lock and Siler triggers. Last year I had to retire it; my eyes got so bad I couldn't see the darn open sights. I missed two of three deer I shot at last year. This is the last deer I'll probably ever kill with that gun. Now I use a CVA Optima with a 2-7X32 scope; I must say I enjoy it as much, just different reasons. I've killed one buck (so far) in three days hunting with it. Yes, it's "real"! And a word of advice: with only three posts to your name yet, please don't start an in-line vs. sidelock argument here. We all went through that for the past few years, and enough's enough.
