All right ya'll bare with me I'm a newbie. The land I have leased has a gas line running right throught the middle of it. The property owner has equipment to plant some serious food plots. I have already planted all the clear areas. That is probably a toatal of 5 acers or so. My delima is that I am competing with a neighboring property. I have always been able to glass alot of deer over there, but they don't seem to care for my winter wheat and turnip greens. Have I not planted enought food for the deer or have I not planted the corret food. My number one question is: If I need more food plots is it ok to plant on the gas line?

I would call and ask, but I'd say it would be OK...You can't plant whatever you want if the gas lie runs through your back yard

I'd say they would'nt care. But don't be surprised if they come by at some point and spray to keep the vegitation in check and kill everything you'v planted.

No, I've seen one deer since bow season where I hunt in sevierville..Unit B.. How about you?
I have a friend that has about 250 acres in the northshore area on the lake, but he won't let anybody hunt there. He doesn't even hunt his self. He don't have anything against it he just don't do it! I have a couple of other friends that hunt it anyways, but I am not going to, unless he gave me permission. They take some good deer there. They don't know him personally tho..
The place I hunt in sevierville has been surveyd so I may lookin around for a new place in bit too....

I would plant an anual of some sort for this very reason. Maybe some crimson clover-oat-wheat mix.

tndrbstr, no i don't really hunt much aroun knoxville. Like i said i wish i could find some land, but it is hard to find anyone who will just let you hunt on good property. In this day in age you get the cops called on you if you even try to aproach someone's house to ask. I started to hunt up around norris lake on tva land, because when the lake dropped it created quite the little honey hole in some places. as long as you are with in about 20 ft of the bank you can hunt it. I found two deer that were sick with that ehb so I never did go back. have you ever hunted the forks of the river wma or hickory bend out on melton hill?

bob, nope,..There are some pretty good chunks of tva land on the upper end of melton hill tho. several deer but you still have to deal with the people. Which is just the nature of the public beast I guess.
