Gdaddy, please don't take this the wrong way, but dude, a person don't go to Campbell for meat, you go for the horns. If meat is what you want go to a place where no one cares what you shoot. At this time of year, you don't go to Campbell to shoot doe's, nor small bucks. the place holds great deer, you just have to put your time in on the Fort. Truthfully, Campbell officials don't take to light on people harvesting young deer-18 month old bucks-they will not openenly state that, but i've been told from an insider.

No I understand that this is a place where Big Deer run and that is why I am going. But you can also kill a doe and from what I have seen down there it is much needed. I also have given deer to the post down there in the past. There are a lot of families there that need our help as hunters to help their families out with food. I would love to kill a monster deer and know that this can happen and hope it does. I would much rather harvest a doe as to shot a small buck. I am also going to be doing some bow hunting and have seen some Giants doing that. Thanks for the input.

Area 26 is a bow area. You may already know that though. Go all the way back to where the creek seperates the base and the private property!

Area 26 has been a bow area all season up until last weekend and it changed to shotgun/muzzleloader. Area 50 is mostly hardwoods I didnt care much for it either but this time of the year the closer to an impact area you can get the better your chances to kill a good buck.

Go have fun and shoot what YOU want to shoot whether it be a trophy or a meat deer - don't worry about any "officials" making it rough on you shooting anything you want to shoot. There are no antler restrictions on Ft Campbell at this time so the choice is yours...

Went and had no luck. I tried area 26 really liked it but by the time I found the deer it turned to bow hunting for the rest of the weekend. Area 19 looked really good also. Did not look like the deer were in the rut yet.

Thanks

Gdaddy, sorry your hunt did not go that well, Yes, You have the right to shoot whatever you want. I feel if you're gonna go through hell tryn to get an area on Campbell at this time of the year and knowing that there may be some buck still roaming..I would allow the does to lure one in my sights. Get near the thickets next time-if you can. Perhaps better luck next time. Next year there should be more units open due to more soldiers being deployed.
