I reloaded some cases for this gun and after a few found that the case was expanding at the base of the neck. these would not chamber at all. It was doing this when I seated the bullet. I have never seen this before. What is going on here? Is it possible to resize these cases or are they lost for ever.

A few things come to mind. In no certain order.

Case lenght could be long double check it after resizing.

Could be the sizer die is set wrong.Check a couple of cases to see if they will chamber after resizing and before seating the bullets.

Could be the seater die is set wrong, esp if it is one with a built in crimper, double check it.

Could be the load density meaning compressed powder charge and the speed in which the bullets are seated.Best to seat these loads super slow and a little bit at a time to aid in settleing the powder inside the case.

Have seen cases Bulged or Expanded from the neck to the shoulder
for one or more of the above reasons.

Depending on how bad this is will determine if the cases will be fixed by resizing, never hurts to try and see.

The seating die is adjusted wrong. This die can be made to crimp the case mouth, and if screwed down a bit further will cause the brass itself to bulge out of dimension.
To fix the problem, properly adjust the seating die.
This is done by loostening the lock ring and backing the die out several turns, place the die in the press and now place a sized case in the shell holder.
Raise it into the seating die. Screw the die in to lower it till it makes contact with the brass in the shell holder, and now back it off from touching a 1/2 turn.
Lock down the ring and you are good to go.
The brass can be used again if dismantled with kinetic puller and run through a FL sizing die.
I do this all the time so just ease the case into the depriming pin so it pushes the live primer out very softly.
No rough house tactics here. Use plenty lube and you will do fine.

Guys I appreciate the help I have reloaded my 270 for over 20 years and never had any problems. I will let you guys know when I get some more reloaded this weekend. Happy turkey day.
I am glad the brass can be reused. I only have 80 cases so any loss is money down the drain.

Case lenght could be long double check it after resizing and then trim the case length to specs , as if you do not it will cause necktightness and excess pressure eventually .
