it has been the remington premier boattail 30-06 165 gr but they stopped making it 4-5 years ago and replaced it with the accutip ammo. i bought a 200 box in 2003 and am down to about my last 40 rounds which should get me thru the next year, after that it is back to playing around with factory ammo again to find a 1/2 inch load or have reloads done up for it... any one got a got handload for mod 70 classic sporter 06 1 in 10 twist. be willing to pay for time and effort/ materials after spring turkey . would i just have to have the chamber measured to see how far the bullets should be set off or on the rifling and work up a load and be able to keep the load data and have done up once in awhile???? pasted and posted from another thread so if it seems out of the blue and kinda out of order, sorry.

Its a shame we are so far apart, I cut my teeth on the ole 06. My first bolt gun was a 30/06 Remington Classic. Back in the 80`s.

ya memphis is quite aways to link up and play with loads thanks for the thought ya got any good loads for one still??? i was looking at wanting to try the sirrea gameking 165 gr hpbt i think stock number2125? the rifle just dose not seem to like ballistic tip bullets (at least the factory ones i have ever tried) it shot hornady light mag 165 pretty good and winchester 168 fail safes good but i must have shot 10-12 different brands of factory ammo in that rifle before i found those remington premier boatail 165's that i got about 40 left of . i honestly think it was the bullet design in that load that made the difference but cant seem to find out what type of bullet it was named specifacally or who made it.

I love the 06. I have a tikka t3 laminated stock and stainless steel and it loves the federal fusion 165 grain. 1/2" groups at 100 yds. And oh by the way the deer hate this load as I have taken a 205 lb. 6pt. A small 7pt. and yesterday a small 8pt. My 9 yr. old uses a mod. 70 243 and he shoots the 95 grain and it shoots around 1 in. and he killed a 103 lb. doe on the youth hunt with near perfect performance.... Just my 2 cents

Checked my catalog I ain't certain on this but I think that was a remington bullet and wasn't offered to reloaders.I found no listing for it in there copenants(sp) for the same years.
