First of all I know nothing about crossbows. I think I'm gonna get one to hunt next in December. I have bow hunted before but due to a ATV accident and 2 surgeries on my wrist it is ackward to shoot a bow.
Is a Horton Summit 150 a decent bow. I don't want to spent a fortune but want something pretty good.

First and foremost, determine if you will be able to cock one with your wrist problem and determine if you need a crank. We've have people come in lokking for cranks because they discover that they can't cock to X-bow.
(Don't really know much about the Summit 150. We have never been a Horton dealer so I can't offer you any input on that.)

Can you say Excalibur! That is the ONLY crossbow to own! No cables, pulleys to have your dealer replace when the string breaks. Its your money!

There are a lot of brands out there,Excalibur is not the only one Horton,Parker,Ten Point,to name a few are all good xbows. You need to try all you can and decide which fits your needs and lets you hunt the way you want,One thing that makes excalibur so popular is the ability to work on it your self, and their customer service is rated one of the best in the business, check them all out and then you decide which fits you, good luck in your search!

I started with a Barnett Revolution and was happy with it until I shot my new Horton. I now think the Barnett was junk. If you can try a couple different ones.
I for now am well pleased with my Horton. I don't see myself switching to another.

Try a bunch of them until you findthe one that feels right in your hands. Then sit down with it and see how the weight and balance feels. You will spend more time sitting and waiting. So if it feels front end heavy and wobbly then ck. out another. You have the compound type and recurve. They both have + & - ! I have 2 Excal recurves and i also love the Parker Buck Buster. Just don't have free money to add it to my hunting choices.Speed is great but accuracy is a must! Some of the lower end compounds seem to have less than good pro's but too many cons!
